Getting from Congonhas Airport to Central São Paulo

São Paulo – Congonhas Airport (CGH) is the third busiest airport in Brazil by passenger traffic. The airport is conveniently located in the city, close to Ibirapuera Park, Avenida Berrine, and Avenida Paulista.

No matter your budget and how you choose to travel, here are your options between Congonhas Airport and your destination in São Paulo.

By subway (metrô)

The nearest metrô station (São Judas on blue line) is located about 3km / 2mi from the airport. To get there, take the bus (ônibus) outside the arrivals hall (route 609J-10 to Metrô São Judas) which runs every 15 minutes between 5am and 11.40pm. The trip to the metrô station takes 15-20 minutes.

The metrô takes another 20 minutes to downtown São Paulo (Sé station). Check out SP metrô map. The bus and metrô fares are R$ 4.40 each, but with an integrated single ticket (Bilhete Único Comum), which includes bus + metrô, you can pay only R$ 7.65.

By bus (ônibus)

The Airport Bus Service runs 24 hours between Congonhas and Garulhos Airport, with buses scheduled every 30-40 minutes. The journey takes about an hour. The fare costs R$ 39, and tickets can be bought online, at the airport desk in cash and debit/credit card, or from the driver. If you’re travelling with Gol or TAM, there’s a free shuttle (see below).

To get downtown, you can also take a regular bus operated by SPTrans. Several routes run through Avenida Paulista. Depending on your destination and traffic, the journey can take 30-60 minutes. A single ticket costs R$ 4.40.

By taxi

There are two main authorized airport taxi companies: Taxi Point 606 and Red and White Taxi.

Both companies have desks at the arrivals hall (ground floor). Rates are fixed. For example, a cab ride to Avenida Paulista should be around R$ 40. Most taxis accept debit and credit cards, but do confirm before getting into the taxi.

By Uber

You can take an Uber in São Paulo. You need a smartphone to access the Uber app. Depending on your destination, there’s a chance an Uber ride may cost less than a cab ride.

Free shuttle from Congonhas Airport to Guarulhos

Gol and TAM offer a free non-stop shuttle for passengers with connecting flights, which runs on the half-hour from 5.30am to 10.30pm. To use this service, simply show your boarding pass (printed or digital version on a mobile device) or ticket reservation to the bus driver.
