Getting from Manaus Airport to the City Centre

Manaus Airport – Eduardo Gomes (MAO) is located about 14 kilometres / 9 miles from the city centre.

The airport has flight connections to several Brazilian cities carried out by Azul, Gol and TAM airlines. There are also flights between Manaus and the United States and Europe operated by TAM and TAP respectively.

When you arrive, you have a few different ways to transfer from the airport to your hotel.

By bus (ônibus)

Two types of buses can be found at Manaus Airport: the regular bus and the executive bus. While the regular bus 306 is cheaper, it does not have air conditioning or luggage space, and it makes several stops on its route. The fare is R$ 2.75. The executive bus 813 is a more comfortable option, but the fare rises to R$ 5.50.

Buses run every 30 minutes and the routes are very similar, going through Amazonas Theatre and the bus station (Terminal Rodoviário).

By taxi

Taking a taxi is the safest and most comfortable option. It’s best to prepay for the taxi service at the counters in the arrivals area. A cab ride to the city centre (Amazonas Theatre) takes about 25 minutes and costs up to R$ 100 – the price is fixed but varies according to the final destination in the city.

By Uber

You can take an Uber in Manaus. You need a smartphone to access the Uber app. Depending on your destination, there’s a chance an Uber ride may cost less than a cab ride.

Renting a Car

You can rent a car upon arrival at the airport from major car rental companies, such as Alamo, Avis, Le Mans, Localiza and Movida.
