Getting from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to the City Centre

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) is Sweden’s main international airport, located about 40km (26mi) north of central Stockholm, in the Sigtuna municipality.

The airport has four terminals (2 through 5) and the area of SkyCity between terminals 4 and 5, open to the public, where Arlanda Central station is located.

International flights operate from terminals 2 and 5, and domestic flights operate from terminals 3 and 4.

By Train

The fastest way is on the Arlanda Express that runs between the airport and Stockholm’s Central Station every 15 minutes throughout the day. The journey takes only 20 minutes.

The single ticket costs 299 SEK, while the return ticket is 579 SEK. Accompanied children aged 0-17 travel free of charge. Unaccompanied children and young adults aged 8-25 pay 149 SEK.

Two, three or four people travelling together can buy a non-refundable and non-changeable ticket for 379 SEK, 479 SEK, and 579 SEK respectively.

Tickets can be bought on the Arlanda Express website, in the self-service machines at the airport next to the escalators / elevators, and on board the train but this option will have a surcharge of 100 SEK.

Another option is to take the commuter train operated by SL that connects Stockholm and Uppsala. The train also departs from SkyCity. The ride between Arlanda and Stockholm’s Central Station takes approximately 40 minutes. The fare is 157 SEK, which includes the access fee to use the train station at the airport.

By Bus

The cheapest option to and from the airport is to take the Flygbussarna that offers an express service between Arlanda Airport and the bus station located next to Stockholm’s Central Station. Buses run every 20 minutes or so, and the journey takes about 45 minutes. Buy the ticket on the website or app and pay 99 SEK. If you buy using the machines or on board with a credit card, you’ll pay 119 SEK.

By Taxi

Taking a taxi is the most comfortable option but also the most expensive. However, a group of three or four people travelling together might want to consider it. There are several taxi companies that operate from Arlanda Airport (Flygtaxi, Taxi 020, Taxi Kurir). A ride to Stockholm city centre can cost up to 675 SEK, and takes approximately 40 minutes.
