Visa and Entry Requirements

Citizens from Schengen countries do not need a visa to enter Norway, only a valid passport or European Union ID-card is required.

Citizens from some countries outside the EU/EEA also do not need a visa – a 90-day stay in the country will be granted on presentation of a valid passport. You should check the entry requirements for your country on the website of the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).

Vaccines | Health

If you’re a citizen from a Schengen country, you should get a free European Health Insurance Card before leaving your country. Citizens from other countries should have travel health insurance that covers medical treatment abroad and repatriation, since Norwegian medical treatments can be very expensive.

Safety

Crime levels in Norway are low. Petty theft is the most common crime.

Climate

The climate of Norway is subarctic in most of the territory, and maritime temperate in the southern regions and coastal areas of the western fjords. Despite being at the same latitude as Alaska and Greenland, the weather in Norway is warmer than one might expect, thanks to the Gulf Stream and warm air currents.
