Which Airlines Fly to the Azores Islands?

The Azores are an increasingly popular destination, especially since budget airlines arrived at the archipelago.

For Europeans, the Azores are now an affordable holiday option. For Americans who don’t like long flights, a stop in the Azores might be the ideal option in a trip to Europe.

Most international flights use Ponta Delgada Airport on São Miguel, the archipelago’s largest island, with just a few using Lajes Airport on Terceira Island. Here is information on the airlines that offer flights between the Azores islands and several international destinations.

1. SATA Azores Airlines

SATA through its subsidiary Azores Airlines is the main airline to the Azores, offering more flights to more destinations than any other airline serving the archipelago. Service includes nonstop international flights between Ponta Delgada / Lajes and a number of destinations.

The Portuguese TAP operates codeshare flights with SATA between Lisbon and several Azorean islands.

3. Ryanair

The Belgian subsidiary of TUI Group offers flights between Brussels and Ponta Delgada. Similarly, the Dutch charter airline provides a service connecting Amsterdam – Schiphol and Ponta Delgada.

6. Primera Air

The Icelandic Primera Air provides flights for tour operators and charter flights. It offers a scheduled service between Copenhagen and Ponta Delgada.

7. Air Europa

The Spanish Air Europa flies between Madrid – Barajas and Lajes, Terceira Island.
